Our vision is to create a joyful place to raise Cashmere goats humanely and sustainability.
Our History
Dragon's Nest began with the joy and love for cashmere goats and many other animals. We started out our cashmere herd with six does from Ann Bertschy's award-winning herd that were given to us when she decided to retire her cashmere operation. The herd genetics trace back to imported Australian and Tasmanian Cashmere goats that were introduced to the United States in the 1980s and were then cross-bred with selected Spanish goat populations to produce hardy animals accustomed to the North American climate that produce large volumes of fine and crimpy cashmere. Dragon's Nest Cashmere goats are specifically related to Wyoming Cashmere as a foundation for Ann Bertschy's Goutique herd in Colorado, with genetics brought in from Spring Tide Cashmere in Maine, Liberty Cashmere in Washington State, Black Lotus Farm in Maine, and Jabberwocky Farm in Colorado.
We are so excited to continue developing the cashmere breed in Colorado! In our herd we are concentrating on developing long, fine, crimpy fleeces, and goats with strong bones and lots of coverage. Our fleeces range from 12.7 microns to 15.1 microns in diameter, and our goats produce 4 to 10 ounces of cashmere a year. All of our animals are in a closed herd and are CAE, CL and Johne's free.

Who We Are

My name is Kace. I have been raising cashmere goats since the summer of 2005. I began this journey in Ann Bertschy's Get Your Goat Club in Gunnison, Colorado, and swiftly fell in love with the breed.

My Name is Curly! I have always had a love for animals, and ever since I was little, it has been a dream of mine to have a small farm to call my home. 2022 is when I officially got to start raising these fluffy animals.
